Check out this email I got yesterday:

(In response to last weekend's "Copywriting Grab Bag" sale).

"Kinda stoooopid to end this sale

on Super Bowl Sunday. Jus sayin.

Would bought this morning."

No, what's stoooopid is making assumptions without facts.

For example:

I did just over 3x's more sales than I got running this exact

same sale last February (not on Superbowl Sunday) using (mostly)

the same emails with a few tweaks aside. I'll gladly take a few

lost sales from people who aren't paying attention to deadlines for

3x's more sales overall. In fact, whenever I end sales like this on

holidays or big events (regardless of the markets I've done this

with) that end on Sundays, sales are almost always higher.

Why?

No idea.

I just know they're higher.

Maybe it has to do with people being in an emotional state and more

receptive to attractive offers for high quality products. Or maybe

it's because people are bored out of their minds at the parties

and BBQ's and are constantly checking their emails anyway. Or,

maybe it's because most people assume those are bad times to sell

based on what their favorite goo-roos say so there's less

competition.

The reasons aren't important.

What's important is this:

I'll let others keep on assuming.

I'll keep on a-profiting.

Hey, speaking of special sales...

The main teaching in the February "Email Players" issue is about

how to do sales using my email methods -- complete with strategy

and also word-for-word examples.

However, it's already at the printer.

And normally it'd be too late to get in on it.

But, if you subscribe today, you can still get it.

You have until the end of the day.

After that, too late...

Ben Settle

P.S. Another blue flame special said:

(About the last email reminder of the sale)

"Really poor marketing.

I didn't even get this email

until after it expired.

Then, when I might hiave

paid full price, it was

impossible to find."

Lulz.

I mailed my list all weekend about that sale.

At least 5 times.

It's astonishing how few people get the concept of a deadline. But,

it does prove beyond a shadow of a doubt people are gonna complain

whether you mail a lot or whether you don't mail enough.

So you might as well mail a lot.

Either way complainers gonna complain...

I couldn't resist...

Since everyone is getting the warm fuzzies over a Superbowl

commercial with no call to action, no offer and no reason to buy, I

thought I'd toss one of my one such ads in to the mix.

Ready?

Behold:

(Don't forget to imagine it being read in Paul Harvey's voice)

And on the ninth day, God looked down on His planned paradise and

said, "I need a salesmanship multiplied."

So God made a copywriter.

God said:

"I need somebody willing to get up before dawn, obsess over his

headline copy, work all day in the office, obsess over his headline

copy again, eat supper, then go to town and stay past midnight at

the bar scribbling ideas on cocktail napkins and asking drunk

people to read his ads."

So God made a copywriter.

God said:

"I need somebody willing to sit up all night while his ad

that he slaved over for 6 weeks is tested and watch it get beaten,

then dry his eyes and say, 'Maybe next month,' I need somebody who

can shape an advertisement from a disorganized client's team of

English majors who wouldn't know what a good ad was if it bit

them, write an 8 page sales letter for a 200 page book in under 2

hours, who can make a sale out of thin air with the right

combination of words, feed his family when work mysteriously dries

up and learn to live on scraps until the next assignment. Who,

during his other disorganized client's product launch will finish

his 40-hour week by Tuesday noon and then, paining from a sore back

sitting 12 hours straight, put in another 72 hours."

So God made a copywriter.

God said:

"I need somebody strong enough to clear his mind when his

own clients' employees sabotage his ads and not heave them out the

window like bales, yet gentle enough to yean empathic copy full of

irresistible bullets, who will stop his writing for an hour to take

his impatient dog out on a much-needed walk."

It had to be somebody who'd dig deep researching his market and

straight and not cut corners. Somebody willing to read, speak,

peek, and never forsake (his market), and risk, and grow, and never

say "can't", and make the peace with others who strain the morale.

Somebody who'd bale an ad together with the soft, strong bonds of

caring, who would laugh, and then sigh and then reply with smiling

eyes when his client says he wants to hire him again because nobody

else can do what he does.

So God made a copywriter.

All weekend I was pitching my Copywriting Grab Bag product.

And, I did it via email.

And, I did it during the Super Bowl.

And, apparently (didn't even know this until someone asked) I did

it during a weekend when Dan Kennedy was having a sale on his

copywriting course.

But you know what?

I got about 3x's the number of sales I usually get with these sales.

Why?

What gives?

Well, I dunno.

I used (mostly) the same emails I ALWAYS use.

So, I chalk it up to my email system.

In fact, here's a comment from one of my email students this

weekend:

===

YOU know Ben I've told you...

People, if they were smart, (and I'm not sure they are) could learn

a lot just from reading your misspelled, funny, analogy laden

emails.

Seriously...

I'm amazed.

I can't believe that people would BITCH at you misspelling a word,

like a Nazi, or complaining about the content. I mean where is the

fun in READING for correctness? Hell if that's the case, go to

college and be a teacher.

Yeah the emails are corny at times, and sometimes I think you're on

drugs because sometimes I'm like, "What they hell is he talking

about", but they WORK.

I mean - I'm writing you, so they must work. :0)

And I'm making about $1,000 a month writing them so the investment

has paid off, and will continue to pay off for the rest of my life,

so I'm happy, happy, happy about that.

Talk later,

Doc Carney

=====

Doc is living proof this stuff works.

I know, I know.

I'm not hyped up in the Internet marketing circles.

I don't do the affiliate "circle jerk."

Nor, do I cater to the mainstream.

(Yes, this costs me sales, but so be it...)

But, my system can help you make more sales.

With less effort.

And, with less struggle.

P.S. Here's what they're saying about The Copywriting Grab Bag:

"I usually have a stack of a dozen books or so on my shelf and

everything goes on the bottom of the shelf. After skimming it,

there were so many tips that I immediately picked up it went to the

top of the book shelf and and it was the next book that I read. My

first read through I pulled out between six to ten new things to

take and test in my own sales letters online. And it's on the shelf

for another read through again coming up soon."

-Terry Dean

TerryDean.org

"Ben, what a massive contribution to the copywriting world. And

very original. And I recommend anybody who's trying to get a handle

on copywriting or get better response to their ad copy to get it

and read it. It's really a fantastic resource."

-Ken McCarthy

"The Copywriting Grab Bag is an enticing buffet of copywriting

tips, tricks, techniques, stories, metaphors, resources and

interviews that copywriters at any level can feast on whenever

they're hungry for new response boosting ideas. And it's written in

a distinct style that makes it fun and engaging to dip into at

anytime of the day."

Makepeace himself. Nice work!"

-Ray Edwards

"I just bought Ben Settles 'Copywriting Grab Bag' and to say I was

impressed is an understatement. This guy is a RISING STAR in the

copywriting world. The man is brilliant, and if you're NOT getting

his stuff, you're losing money."

-T.J. Rohleder

extra copies of one of my new products."

-Roger Haeske

RogerHaeske.com

"Your 'Copywriting Grab Bag' book not only has a lot of really

priceless information, but your (secret described on page 72)

bullet point idea is a thing of beauty. So simple, yet so

irresistible. I've already put it into practice. What reader could

help themselves from filling out an order form when you use that

technique?"

-Charles Brown

"The secrets in this book have put a LOT of money in my pocket.

And they can do the same for you if you apply them to your own

ads."

-Michael Senoff

HardToFindSeminars.com

"Ben's tricks, tips, tactics, and secrets are incredible and

they've helped me create significant sales increases for my

copywriting clients. I'm sure they'll do the same for you."

-B. Flatt, Freelance

"I have developed my voice and have helped three clients develop a

personality in their marketing messages. All leading to higher

profits for them, more projects from them, high percentage deals

and bigger fees flowing into my bank account."

-Sandy Barris

FastMarketingPlan.com

"It's my opinion it's better to read one excellent book 10-times

than to read 10 so-so books once. I read 'The Copywriting Grab Bag'

over and over. Which is more than I can say for many other

copywriting and marketing books I've purchased. It has my highest

recommendation."

-Michael Silk

Freelance Copywriter

(Kent, England)

What Do I Like About Ben's Book?

1. You don't have to read it start to finish. You can pick any

chapter and get a quick lesson in copywriting. (That's why Ben

calls it his "grab bag.")

2. Ben writes the same way when he's teaching as when he's writing

ad copy. So each chapter (usually 1-3 pages) is written in the same

style he would use for an ad.

3. The chapter titles are very compelling. For instance, "What

Tree-Huggers Know About Writing Million-Dollar Ads","How to Destroy

Your Competition... by Praising Them" and "How to Sell High-Ticket

Products with Just One Bullet Point."

4. There are ten appendices in the back of the book. They are the

transcripts from interviews Ben has done. For instance, you'll find

interviews with Ken McCarthy, David Deutsch, and Brian Clark of

Copyblogger.

Anyway, those are a few reasons why I like Ben's book.

-Ryan Healy

on his blog about the product)

This is for all ye students of persuasion.

Once upon a time, a subscriber wrote...

"I wouldn't discount 'social proof' or 'persuasion' or 'scarcity'

as only buzz. Have you read Influence by Cialdini? These concepts

work and are backed up by hardcore science."

That's actually a good point.

And methinks it deserves an answer.

So allow me to retort...

First off, when I read Cialdini's book it seemed like less of a

"how to" book for marketers than it was a WARNING to consumers.

The tactics inside it are very powerful, and I am not saying you

should never use them. But they are like a blade -- they can heal

(i.e. a surgeon's scalpel) or cut someone into little bitty pieces

(i.e. a serial killer's shank).

A lot of people don't realize that.

And you can tell by looking at their ads.

How?

Because there is little or no substance -- just a series of

persuasion tricks, tactics & chokeholds (just tossed in - helter

skelter) at the expense of doing right by their customers.

That works great on the small % of hyper buyers.

You know, people who buy everything.

But to skeptical prospects?

(The VAST majority in any market.)

Good luck.

Secondly...

Cialdini's book is not "hardcore" science.

It's soft science at best.

And not always long term profitable, either.

Example?

Take the so-called "law of reciprocity." Sounds great from the

stage, yeah? Maybe so -- but it's a terrible foundation to build a

customer base on.

Sure, you'll get buyers.

But they're almost like "pity buyers" in a way.

(i.e. they bought out of obligation)

So if that's the reason they bought, they likely ain't buying again.

(Repeat sales is where the REAL money is in business.)

Anyway, I know I'm fighting against thousands of web pages and

videos and podcasts and social media brain farts packed with

goo-roo dogma about this.

But here's the point:

The best ads aren't "trick" centered.

They're MARKET centered.

It's about the market first.

And the tactics second.

Look, I know this is almost like "blasphemy."

Especially to the goo-roo fanboys.

So I don't expect you to necessarily believe me.

That being the case, maybe you'll believe two of the highest paid

direct mail copywriters (the most cut throat copywriting medium

there is) on the planet. The "Copywriting Grab Bag" includes

appendix interviews with A-List copywriters Doug D'Anna and David

Deutsche (I was once told David had 6 controls running

simultaneously, which is pretty much unheard of from what I

understand).

Both hammer this theme home about knowing your market.

(Over and over and over...)

Even going so far as to say guys at their level hardly even talk

about "tactics" to each other, just what new insights they're

learning about their markets.

Frankly, they never mention any "tricks."

It's ALL market, baby.

Anyway, it's yours for $100 off until midnight tonight.

Here's where to go next:

http://www.CopywritingGrabBag.com/100

Ben Settle

P.S. It also includes an unadvertised bonus book that contains a

guide for how to learn everything there is to know about your

market.

Make no mistake, it's work.

But it's work that can pay you in spades.

That's why this product is for serious marketers only. The lazy and

unmotivated should not bother buying it.

Otherwise, here's where to get it for $100 off:
